Who could have possibly predicted that certified Gladiator haters like us would take a trip to the cinema and have a blast with Gladiator II. Because in our view, the long-awaited sequel surpasses its predecessor in almost every way, especially when it comes to the action set pieces. Directed by the legendary Ridley Scott, now an astonishing 87 years old, the film is a masterclass in epic storytelling on a massive scale. This time around, Paul Mescal leads the charge with a powerful performance as Lucius (the kid from the first one), supported by standout showings from Denzel Washington, Pedro Pascal, and Joseph Quinn among others. From its improved screenplay, to the epic visuals and intense battles, Gladiator II proves that Scott is at the top of his game in 2024. How could you not be entertained?!
