In examining Pedro Almodóvar's prolific career, we go off the beaten path and watch Live Flesh (1997) starring Javier Bardem, Liberto Rabal, Francesca Neri, and Penelope Cruz. Based on an English book of the same name by Ruth Rendell, the film follows a man who is sent to prison after crippling a police officer and then seeks redemption years later when he is released.
