It’s been a brutal day for media companies, who are laying off huge amounts of staff as they struggle to keep up with the ever-changing economy, to say nothing of technology and how to best attract readers and keep their advertisers happy. As the corporate boats at Verizon Media, BuzzFeed, DC Comics and others struggle to stay afloat, they are throwing staff overboard in massive numbers.
Things aren’t looking great for Tesla employees, either.
Welcome to Black Thursday, an ugly day in which Verizon alone dismissed 750 staffers - so far. Here’s hoping things get better for the corporations, and that the discharged employees find gainful, happy and stable work as quickly as possible.
