Description

A legendary New Yorker, a father figure to me, and a man I was proud to know and call a friend has passed away. Bleecker Bob's was where I shopped for albums and where I discovered some of the music that shaped me, with help and friendly ribbing from Bob himself. Robert Plotnik's store was far more than my local. record store - Bob's customers included people who traveled from all over the world to make their pilgrimage to his store, where Robert Plant, David Bowie, Jimi Hendrix and others used to shop. It was heartbreaking in 2013 when Bob, who never towed the line or changed his store as New York grew more gentrified, finally shut the store down. Sadly, a major reason for that was his declining health. It's a devastating loss, but his life should be celebrated. The impact he had on so many, the contributions he made to music and culture, will live forever.

On a lighter note, some exciting news as we head into the weekend - Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Firefly and Angel are all now available to stream for free (with some ads) on Facebook Watch! So if I don't answer the phone for the next few days, there's a decent chance that you can find me hosting a watch party - probably Angel season 2, for starters.
