There is no denying that Disney is going through a tough, uncertain, transitory time. Marvel's Netflix universe is collapsing, as the creator of much of its content has left for DC Entertainment. Daredevil's future is uncertain, and it's looking as though all of this is headed towards an exodus from Netflix in favor of Disney's streaming service, set to launch in 2019. Of course, Marvel needs to stay healthy before they transition to their new, proprietary platform, as does Star Wars.

I'm not even going to comment here about Star Wars: Resistance - I discuss it in this episode but there's very little to say, other than it's obvious that Disney has scrimped on animation, writing, production and voice talent and that it's an obvious short-term project, designed to at best stay afloat, certainly not to succeed or leave a mark on the Star Wars brand.

Oh, and have I mentioned that Star Wars and Marvel fans have basically declared war on each other, attacking one another over politics as the storytelling continues to devolve and brand loyalty evaporates?

Yeah, something's going on at the House of Mouse - I think they're just treading water until the launch of the Disney streaming service in 2019, but they need to peddle faster, and more skillfully, if they don't want to leave a real nasty bruise on these amazing characters and stories, who deserve the very best. If you want Marvel and Star Wars to maintain their longevity, you can't just short-change them during this period of transition, and expect fans to be enthusiastic when you finally start putting in work next year, on this untested new platform.
