The Suicide Squad is shaping up to be as great as Suicide Squad, the original, was terrible. With James Gunn on board and the DC Extended Universe looking to move forward and continue their string of critical and commercial hit movies, the news today is even more exciting. Will Smith is out as Deadshot, which would be a shame - except he’s being replaced with Idris Elba, which immediately raises the excitement level for the Suicide Squad. They deserve a second chance, just as James Gunn does - and there’s a lot of real great story to be mined from the source material. With Gunn directing, Margot Robbie returning as Harley Quinn, and Elba brining his amazing acting chops to the table as Deadshot, this movie could redeem the Squad, the DCEU, and potentially be one of the best comic movies of the next decade.
