Lesson Objectives – At the end of this lesson, students will:
- Learn about the Book Background Method of Bible study
- Get “hands-on” practice on how to do a Book Background Method study
Some of the Bible study methods we have discussed in this class may be used as students become more comfortable and fluent in their usage of them. Then there are some methods we will discuss that are really not optional. The Book Background Method is one of those non-negotiable strategies to Bible study.
There should be not be any attempt to interpret the bible without doing a book background approach as part of the preliminary steps of studying the bible. Don’t attempt to think you know what the passage mean if you have not done a book background to some extent. You must understand background information.
A common mistake made by Bible students is to attempt to interpret and even apply biblical principles apart from their historical background context.
