Jules and I continue the Keith Gordon filmography and we're talking about the 9th film in the run, 1985's "Static".
Keith is a dang shining star in this, a quirky 90s comedy about weirdos that came out in the mid 80's. He works in a crucifix factory, his cousin is a street preacher/hustler/doomsday enthusiast with two weird kids who wear lizard masks and fallout suits while drinking tang, and his maybe love interest left a dope punk band to hang out in a garbage town with a fish shaped diner while Keith gets ready to unveil his life's work: a TV where you can see heaven.
I want to say it's weird this has no real cult imprint, but Mark Romanek, who directed and co-wrote with Gordon, doesn't acknowledge it and they missed a decent distribution offer in the days before they were scooping up indie movies left and right. Nowadays you can find a bootleg vhs on Amazon or watch a laserdisc rip on youtube (there's a link in our YouTube page).
