Mika Stein is a standup comic based in Brooklyn. In this ep Mika talks about growing up Black and Jewish in Texas; being an only child of a single mom; the peculiarities of Jewish identity; and encountering Zionism (at NYU) (and unlearning it vis-a-vis... Barack Obama?!). Mika and I talked through the different "Jewish values" we absorbed from our respective backgrounds -- which is one of my favorite kinds of conversations to have. Mika also talks about how he found comedy (shout out to his fav Tig Notaro).
