Episode 15: Rare disease diagnostics. Welcome to episode 15 of SonaCast. This week our guest is Adam Griffiths, Conference Director of the Rare Disease Diagnostics Summit being held in Boston MA this September. Startistics show that more than 350 million people globally are living with a rare disease. On average it takes seven different consultations before an initial referral to a clinical geneticist and a minimum of five years to completely diagnose a patient, with 70-90% of cases going undiagnosed. We talk to Adam about rare diseases and how to alleviate the diagnostic burden for patients.
