A small stick
Floating down the ditch
Joining a muddy stream
At the edge of the road.
The stick dodging
Weaving between cars
Til foot slapped
By a small girl
With her own mission
No less important.
I rise each morning
Full of my importance
Grumping how my mission has been thwarted
By the god-sent torrents
Sweeping me down the drain.
