Fits of passion
Limbs reaching wrapping around
Two, three hold as it were
Each other as lovers
Through decades of growth
And change of girth
As we walk below
Two earthly lovers year upon year
Our time and affections shared
Mirrors revealing as our faces drift
As songbirds live and die
As we play in bed
Evolving to quiet affection
Hand holding our new passion
Beneath the two trees
Now in the shadow of the others
With new lovers walking by
Looking up and seeing themselves
Wrapped in aging arms
Swaying in the wind
Leaves falling in a colored rain
Before the winter and the leaving
of lovers too old to return.
