A mighty oak tree is often referred to as the "gold standard" of strength and resistance to the forces of nature. One amazing fact about the oak is, that generally what you see above the ground is just a small sample of what is underground!
In this chapter of Romans, as in the two previous chapters the Apostle is dealing with the condition of Israel. They had ran their roots deep in the traditions of their forefathers, but had missed the purpose of the Law of Prophets. This purpose being to bring them Jesus and the New Covenant of God.
We have to root our lives in our Faith in Jesus.
