Description

In the heart of downtown Minneapolis lies a playable public sound installation in the form of Sidewalk Harp. This 40-foot-long stainless steel wave resonates with ethereal tones as commuters and passersby pluck the strings through light beam sensors. This resulting effect is a pleasing symphony of color and sound that bounces back and forth between the tall buildings that surround it. Created in 2015 by artist Jen Lewin, this interactive instrument's organic shape and sound duet a bustling city backdrop and the soft chimes of a nearby Metro Transit light rail station. Glissando your way to sweet dreams. 44.98384, -93.27834
