Description

Season 1, Episode 20

Listening to the song of Lake Bernard at the water's edge while sitting on a big flat rock that disappears under the water, also known as the Canadian Shield, Cathy and I launch into a relaxed conversation about cottage life from the perspective of the Ephemeros.

The conversation moves to the power of a place, ancestral connections and stepping out of time and space. It's broken into bits as the wind and a certain poodle created breaks in our stream of thought but it's all good and nurturing. Have a listen.

Enjoy the sounds of Lake Bernard, the largest fresh water lake in the world without an island! Every time I visit, I don't want to leave and when I do, it beckons me to return.

Cathy Anderson is an Art Director by trade and an artist by nature. Yet she processes the world as a creative scientist through her innate vertical and lateral thinking. When she’s not working or creating beauty in a variety of media, she’s indulging in non-fiction. Topics that range from ancient history, indigenous study, archeology, geology, biology, genetics, and her current favourite, neuroscience. About 10 years ago, her interests in design, colour, science, geology, and light culminated in the discovery of lampwork - a way to create tiny wearable works of art by melting, forming, and layering glass using ancient techniques. Gazing upon and through her glass creations is more than seeing rich colour and light; more than feeling a connection to the natural elements of the Murano glass rods that she uses; more than an encapsulation of her passions; it’s been described as an alchemical experience - a recognition of the deepest nature of our being, even for just a moment.
