Ren seeks answers through deep meditation, during which he encounters his “council”—the gods and goddesses of the zodiac—who steer him down a path of spiritual healing. To find peace, Ren must face the negative views that his childhood religion of Catholicism has toward the LGBTQ+ community and women, battle his own ego, and come to terms with his fear of death and being alone without Sean. Awakening the Mystic is an exploration of higher consciousness, the practice of yoga and meditation, and a journey to discover what love and healing really mean.
Author Bio: ROB DORGAN has an MA in European History from the University of Cincinnati. He began writing fiction at the age of seven with his first short story, “Murder at the La Brea Tar Pits,” followed by “Murder at the Art Museum.” Since second grade, his interests and content have changed, but his love for telling a good story has remained.
While working on his doctorate, the trajectory of Dorgan’s life path was drastically altered when he was introduced to the mystical arts of astrology and yoga.
Yoga, along with astrology, changed his life. While Dorgan’s debut, Awakening the Mystic, is fiction, it is full of real possibilities for the future of our human species and Mother Earth.
Dorgan is a certified yoga educator, international retreat facilitator, meditation teacher/devotee, and practicing astrologer.
