Description

On April 28, 2011, my Aunt, Karen Beckham (Nannie) passed away from a 3 year battle with ovarian cancer. To commemorate the 9th anniversary of her passing, I have a discussion with my sister, Jennifer, who is a highly credentialed trauma counselor. Jennifer has her own psychotherapy practice in Leonardtown Maryland.

We all have to deal with grief throughout our life, and grief isn't always associated with the loss of someone. It could be something, whether a relationship, a job or even an addictive behavior. Often times we want to suppress those feelings, thinking we should be stoic in the face of that loss. But crucial to our healing and emotional progression is our ability to "feel the feels", process them and heal.

My sister has a unique perspective, being a professional who normally sits in the counselor chir, but you will hear that she also had to process that grief. This is the story of her dealing with that loss.
