There are times when things get so bad that you want to give up, but you don’t because something keeps you going. For some, that something might be hope for a better future, kids, a spouse, or family members. It wasn’t until a few years ago that I realized that although I wasn’t giving up, I wasn’t motivated to keep going. My dreams for a better life started to feel like a fairytale, something make-believe that would never happen. I wanted to give up because there was no joy in living a life I felt had no purpose. It wasn’t until I heard those words, “Hold on,” that I was able to pause and reflect on my life. I was curious to figure out what or who I was holding on for.
As I searched deeper for the meaning of “Hold on,” I realized God was telling me not to give up, that it is not over, but I could not help this feeling of emptiness. That is when the holy spirit revealed to me that everything I do is not for me, but for the ones to come after.
