Description

If there is one thing we love here at You Are Not Invisible After 50, it’s people who leave rigid, corporate industries for the wonders of art, beauty, and creativity. And Lauren Taslitzis one of them! A former alumnus of Harvard Law School, Lauren first started her career as the in-house counsel at the Mount Sinai Hospital and School of Medicine. After meeting her husband, having children, and moving to Chicago, Lauren discovered the wonders of musicality and lyricism after writing for her children’s middle-school fundraiser. After taking classes in musical theatre, improv, and sketch writing and writing two full-length musicals, Lauren’s life changed forever when she started studying at the NYU Tisch School of the Arts on the Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program. Most recently, Lauren has executive produced The Regretting Almost Everything (Concept) Album with her composer-collaborator, Danny Ursetti, which has also featured two Broadway stars, Beth Leavel and Jeff Blumenkrantz. Now focused on securing a first production of the show, Lauren is confident that the bright lights of Broadway is calling her name. In this episode, Lauren talks about her start with the MFA program, writing her plays, and the magic of not knowing what lies ahead.
