Description

This is the first episode in the TAC mini-series, "Starting Off Right," where Jen & Erik bring on master teachers of each band instrument to discuss how to get your students playing great from day one! The series, which also includes tips and tricks from the pro's, is incredibly valuable for new teachers and seasoned veterans alike.
This episode features Erik Donough, one of the hosts, discussing instrument assembly, reed/mouthpiece choice, embouchure, tone production, tonguing, method books, and more!
Erik S. Donough (BM Ed., Ithaca College; MA Music Performance, Montclair State University, Alpha Epsilon Lambda Honor Society), a multi-instrumentalist and conductor, is enjoying his 36th year of saxophone playing. His teachers include Dr. Paul Cohen, Dr. Steven Mauk, William Shadel, and Peter Potosky. He also studied double reeds under Charles Pillow and flute under Carron Moroney.
Mr. Donough has performed in over 70 productions from the scholastic level to Broadway, Lincoln Center, and Carnegie Hall with artists including Tim Janis, Matthew Morrison, Joe Alessi, and Alan Baer. He currently performs with The Metropolitan Saxophone Quartet and local music ensembles. Mr. Donough teaches eighth grade instrumental music in Livingston, and is on staff with the Livingston High School Marching Lancers. He also arranges music for the Morristown High School Marching Colonials.
