Pete and Tyler chat with Sarah Hornby of Bikepack Canada about her epic 2019 adventures and plans for 2020. In 2019, Sarah set out complete all the bikepacking routes detailed by her late husband, Ryan Correy, in his book Bikepacking in the Canadian Rockies.
Sarah, on her inspiration for her summer bikepacking project: “It was probably about a year ago now that I think about it, I had just come back from a month in France, I was doing a hike across the Alps and like most adventure or goal oriented people I was kinda like, what do I want to do next here? And, I’d spent all this time hiking, and thinking ok, if I’m going to run this Bikepack Canada thing, I’ve got to actually do a little more bikepacking! So, prior to Ryan’s death he’d been working on a guidebook called bikepacking in the Canadian Rockies, and that outlined 10 routes in Alberta and B.C., multi-way routes and he’d scouted them all and really worked on it right up until he was sick, and he was fine tuning the book even while he was sick. So, I had this idea to ride all the routes.”
