Kit Carlson, PhD, is an accomplished scientist and educator with twenty years’ experience developing courses and teaching botany and other biological sciences. In addition to teaching, she has reviewed, written, procured and managed numerous grants from a wide-array of funding sources, including the public, private, and non-profit sector. This work has contributed to institutional mission and profile by developing the infrastructure and funds needed to support a more diverse student demographic, and engage in meaningful, collaborative research with partners across the country and by proactively serving the broader community of stakeholders. Her primary efforts have served to improve access to STEM education and provide students with engaging, skills-focused opportunities to conduct research. These contributions have been recognized and supported with a number of prestigious awards, honors and funded grants.
