From its crest to merchandise designs, Oakland Roots is known for celebrating the local sporting and musical cultures. The club merchandise is so popular that famous artists like G-Eazy featured it in their music videos. Basketball stars Damian Lillard and Kevon Looney were also spotted in Roots t-shirts before their NBA games. However, the USL Championship Club’s impact goes beyond fashion. The club unites passion with purpose and collaborates with non-profit organisations to create a positive social impact. Roots pledged to donate 1% of their payroll and 1% of projected ticket revenue to the Common Goal movement to promote social equality. The club also established its own fund to promote racial and gender justice. Furthermore, sustainable business consulting was employed to determine their main emission sources, establish science-based emission reduction goals, and locate certified offsets. Recently, Roots teamed up with East Bay Community Energy to provide affordable clean energy to the community and educate fans about renewable sources.
