“The convention mis-called “modesty” has no standard, and cannot have one, because it is opposed to nature and reason and is therefore an artificiality and subject to anyone's whim—anyone's diseased caprice.” —Mark Twain
The whims of this “diseased caprice” are played out across cultures throughout the centuries of history. From the modern burka to the koteka or penis gourd, worn in New Guinea, the examples of what is “modest” are almost innumerable. Let us flee from these self imposed rules and return to a belief that our bodies were created very good. Throw off artificial modesty and begin to respect our natural selves.
