Roni Andrew joins Jackie and Robin for this week’s episode to discuss ways parents can support their children in gaining confidence, focus, and fun in youth sports. Roni wears many hats in the world of youth sports and brings a wealth of knowledge to the conversation. This week we discuss strategies and ways parents can engage in their children’s sport that can be helpful for the child and . . . the parent. Roni’s experience with training and coaching the “littles” provides a great perspective for parents to think about when supporting and cheering on their child. Her frame of reference provides strategies that foster children to gain independence and resilience, especially around the development of emotional and social skills. In addition, Roni talks about her role in the arena of Adaptive Sports and the opportunities this space allows for all youth to be a part of the sports. After listening to this episode, you will appreciate, (just like we did), how Roni’s passion is to help parents to understand how it is much more than sport.
