This week we interview nurse practitioner Christal Parker MSN, APRN. She is an injector and medspa owner (Savvy Beauty & Wellness) in the Southern California area. Jonathan met Christal at the 2023 MedSpa Conference, and she was a speaker on the Diversity and Inclusion panel. She made it a point to reach out to the conference owner and make that discussion more comfortable for colored people in the industry. She was later invited to his podcast and then granted a seat on the panel for this year's Medspa Conference. Christal believes that the way to make others included is for you to market to them. She shared an example of the airline company Delta marketing to the gay community to make them comfortable using their airline. The same thing would apply to aesthetics. It should start with manufacturers being more inclusive of all nationalities in their marketing and the medspa owners should follow the same model.
Christal doubles down on the importance of having the medical director present at the medspa. Having a good relationship with them can help the business. She mentions that YouTube is her choice of social media and values the information it brings and spreads. Christal talks about her podcast called Nurse Boss Shift.
