May is mental health awareness month, and mental health is one of the biggest buzzwords nowadays. It’s all over social media and at the top of everyone’s mind. Everyone’s giving their opinion on self care and dealing with mental health - it’s hard to figure out what’s real and what’s been commercialized for consumption. Nadine and Tarini have many episodes about self care and how it’s been commodified for social media, but this week’s episode is a little different. Looking into the science of mental health, they take a more research-based approach to understanding what mental health is, the social stigmas around it, and new research about holistic approaches.
