Description

One of the main tenets as the conversation around race and racism continues is intersectionality. Coined by Kimberlé Crenshaw in 1989, intersectionality is the overlapping of a person’s identities as it relates to social structures such as race, gender, and class, to create a nuanced experience of marginalization. On this week’s episode, Nadine and Tarini further explore how to understand intersectionality and it’s importance as the fight against racism continues. Understanding intersectionality helps us further recognize how power and privilege can impact everyone’s identity and experience in a multi-faceted and specific way, enabling all of us to be better allies. While this week’s episode is a little different than the rest, the need for it is undoubtedly extremely important. It is through candid conversation that we can grow and make impactful change.
