Description

This time Pedro and Marta meet Elizabeth Weiss to understand how archeology works and also to talk about the controversy that Elizabeth has experienced for the mere fact of defending scientific facts against laws favoring religious ideology.
Elizabeth is a professor of anthropology at San Jose State University in California. Her research expertise is in skeletal analyses of osteoarthritis, muscle markers, and bone cross-sections to reconstruct lifestyles and better understand bone biology.
She has published several books such as her most recent one Repatrion and Erasing the past
She has been vocal in her opposition to repatriation laws for ancient Native American remains to the point that she filed a lawsuit against San Jose State University. She claims she has felt she has been retaliated against for her views on what to do with human remains in research facilities and for her handling of those remains.
