Description

Have you ever considered your own innate desires for good could be personal revelation? Join me this week for an insightful conversation with Dr. Julie Hanks as we discuss aspirational shame and personal revelation as it relates to women and our desires for family, careers, and/or education. Dr. Hanks discusses how we can learn to trust ourselves and not discount our good desires and aspirations, as they can be potential personal revelation or inspiration from loving Heavenly Parents. We also discuss why it is so common for women to judge one another for their decisions, and how we can lessen our judgment for others and increase in love and understanding.

“I believe if our desires are good, that is personal revelation. I believe our Heavenly Parents use our desires to inform us about what we need to do. And so, instead of not trusting our desires, (assume) that they’re good and will lead to good fruits.”

“Women in general have been taught not to trust ourselves, and I think learning how to trust yourself, your intuition, the Spirit, your desires… that is so important for knowing what’s next for you. And no one else can know that.”

Challenge: Consider a time when you have judged another woman and her decisions. Do some analysis— what were you judging and what were you really afraid of? Take time to think through these feelings and journal about some of your fears.
