On 10 August 2022, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) convened in Arusha, Tanzania to launch the CAF Africa Super League. CAF President Dr Patrice Mostepe, alongside FIFA President Gianni Infantino, officially announced the launch of the groundbreaking competition "that is set to change the face of African football". With prize money total of $100m allocated, the Africa Super League will be the most lucrative club competition on the land. The innovative competition promises not only to accelerate the commercialisation of African football, but significantly support the training and retention footballing talent.
