Description

Welcome back to episode 2 of Women in Philanthropy!

In this episode, Robin Heller speaks about her role as a fundraiser and President of The Athena Advisors Consulting. In Robin's words, fundraising helps "marshall resources for social change". Yet, money can often be an uncomfortable topic for people. Robin reflects on how the Board of Trustees, CEOs, and even jobseekers, can become more comfortable with their money conversations.

This episode is slightly longer as Robin answers a listener's question, "How can women better negotiate their salaries?" Reflecting a view that "there is enough", she describes how money, mentorship, and resources are in abundance if we are ready to listen to others and ask for what we need.

Robin also describes several worst philanthropic jargon words, why women philanthropists are an inspiring trend, and why philanthropy's next needed role is the "philanthropy beat".

You can learn more about Robin's work at Athena Advisors and the Raising Upwards Fellowship for fundraising.

*******************************

Women in Philanthropy is a podcast by and for women working in the giving and social impact sector. Fundraisers, grantmakers, advisors. You can't always see behind the scenes in giving, which means you can't see who enables this giving. This podcast hopes to connect women across the sector and borders. It seeks to amplify women's experiences working in philanthropy, which have too often been overlooked in our research and histories.

We look forward to bringing you ~15-minute episodes, connecting you with amazing women and hearing the stories of their philanthropic work.
