Dale Burgman is a sportswriters' dream. He is one of the best interviews off all time, and he has pretty much coached everything.
After a long tenure at Butte High School, Dale retired and moved to North Dakota to coach and teach. He has one more school year before he returns to the Mining City for good.
In 2015, Burgman coached even after his son Kyle and his friend and roommate Casey Boyle were killed in a car crash shortly before the fall sports season began.
The families started the Burgman/Boyle Classic basketball game on the one-year anniversary of the tragedy, and the "Boyles Buddies Game," the Special Olympian edition of that game lives on. It will be played Thursday, Aug. 10 at 6:30 p.m. at East Middle School.
The Burgman/Boyle Scholarship has awarded more than $100,000 in scholarships to students from Butte High and Butte Central in the eight years since the tragedy.
