Dear Families of Room F1,
We’re going to have a great upcoming week. Below is a short description of what’s coming up and important links and/or announcements:

Reader’s
Workshop
The students will continue the Reader’s Workshop Unit: Mystery (Foundational Skills in Disguise). We will spend the week understanding the mystery by collaborating with partners (like real crime solvers), keeping hold of the mystery even when the book is long and tricky, and understanding common patterns and characteristics of mysteries.
Writer’s
Workshop
The kids continue on our Writer’s Workshop Unit: Changing the World (Persuasive Speeches). The kids will raise the level of their writing by gathering more information about their opinion, organizing and categorizing their supporting information, and proving their point by giving evidence using transitions like “For example”.
Math
The kids will spend the week on our next unit: Representing Data with Graphs. The kids will learn about line plots and compare and contrast picture graphs, bar graphs, and line plots. We will finish up the unit with an assessment on Friday.
Social
Studies
Nothing this week.
Science
The kids will start on the next part of our weather unit. For a few weeks we will study severe weather (lightning, floods, wildfires, and more). Next week we will build up our background knowledge about these kinds of severe weather.
Thank you,
Mr. Gray
