We’re going to have a great upcoming week. Below is a short description of what’s coming up and important links and/or announcements:

Reader’s Workshop
The kids will begin a unit on nonfiction reading. They will continue to read nonfiction books and we will take the week to figure out main ideas. The kids will be getting nonfiction books from the library to support their reading for the week. At home, they will continue reading fiction books they choose appropriately.
Writer’s Workshop
We will continue a unit on writing information books. The kids will finish revising and editing one of their current information books they are writing and then start on a new chapter book that teaches.
Math
The next few weeks will be dedicated to in Introduction of Ratios. Here is a quick rundown of what we will be studying. Next week we will take a quiz on Monday on comparing ratios and using ratio tables (Ratios Work #8-12). Then we will be studying part-whole ratio relationships.
History
The kids will continue our study of Ancient Egypt. The kids will build background knowledge and study vocabulary. They will make and study hieroglyphics and look at how Ancient Egyptian society was organized. They will grade themselves on how well they have completed their work so far.
Science
The kids will work with Mr. Nelson in science lab. We will use our science workbook to start a unit on human body systems. Optional Science Fair Information.
