Description

Michael Spitzer is Professor of Music at the University of Liverpool. He has written about a huge range of music, from Beethoven to American indie, and is interested in how music intersects with other disciplines, including psychology, philosophy, and anthropology. His previous books include Metaphor and Musical Thought, Music as Philosophy, and A History of Emotion in Western Music: A Thousand Years From Chant to Pop. The Musical Human has been translated into ten languages, and has an audio-book read by Daniel Levitin. It was BBC Radio 4's Book of the Week in April 2021, read by Simon McBurney.
