Description

A DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT: On this date, June 5, in 754, St Boniface was murdered. Our Christian churches remember his mission work in Germany where he became bishop of Mainz. As an English monk, he heard the call of Christ to go into all the world, making disciples (Matthew 28) and by the power of His Spirit, converted many pagans to Christianity. He is especially remembered for having cut down a sacred tree to the pagan god, Donar. For his mission endeavors, Boniface is known as the Apostle to Germany. We can thank God for Boniface's work which almost a thousand years later resulted in the work of Martin Luther.
