Thanks to everyone who donated to the GoFundMe we started to raise money to hire a strength and conditioning coach for Kionte Storey. Kionte is a retired United States Marine who lost his lower right leg to an IED (improvised explosive device) in Afghanistan in September 2010 and he also struggled physically, mentally and emotionally throughout his recovery. He now is training to qualify for the 2016 International Paralympic Games in the 100, 200 and 400 meter sprint events. Listen to episode 13 to learn more about his story! Because of your generous support, Kionte is closer to reaching his dream. In episode 21 I interview Ty Summerlin and Marissa McGuirk from Adaptive Performance Systems. Ty and Marissa will be working with Kionte to help him reach his potential and become an elite Paralympic sprinter. Ty Summerlin, Founder of Adaptive Performance Systems Ty launched Adaptive Performance Systems in 2014 after several years of successful coaching experience with adaptive athletes. By combining mobility, structural balance training, and classic strength & conditioning, Ty and his team provide one-of-a-kind training programs that first emphasize mastery of basic fundamental movement. Once basic fundamental movements are remastered, athletes progress to more challenging movements and workouts and, ultimately, train to the highest levels of athletic performance. Adaptive Performance Systems offer both one-on-one and self-guided, online training programs for the adaptive community. In episode 21, Ty talks about his approach to training in detail and discusses his goals for Kionte for the next few months.
