The episode where Clayton cries.
Clayton and his friend Mike from his days at Purdue University get into the adaption of Cheryl Strayed's memoir - Wild. We praise Reese Witherspoon's brave performance, the authenticity of the writing, and how important films and stories like this are. Clayton gets more open and honest than he does even with his therapist about the struggles of heroin addiction, and the battles during recovery. We both talk about the importance of being able to forgive yourself, and giving yourself the freedom to live.
Even if you aren't familiar with Cheryl's story, I urge you to give this episode a listen. Addiction is such a misunderstood topic, and the "othering" of addicts is a real problem. If you are struggling with addiction, or have ever known someone who was an addict, listen to this. You just might get some insight into what it's like, and that there is hope on the other side.
"What if heroin taught me something? What if all those things I did were the things that got me here? What if I was never redeemed? What if I already was."
