Description

Our chat with a fabulous community of wild winter swimmers on the North Fork called the North Fork Polar Bears!

They spend their winters joyfully jumping into freezing water (usually in the 30s and 40s), regardless of snow, sleet or sun.

On Sunday, January 28th, the group is hosting their second annual fundraiser at the recently renovated Silver Sands Motel in Greenport.

Funds raised from the event will benefit the Center for Advocacy, Support & Transformation (CAST), an organization supporting families across our community, and Back to the Bays, an initiative of Cornell Cooperative’s Marine program dedicated to preserving and protecting Long Island waters.

Hear more about how you can join in and support this fun group that has brought new enthusiasm and joy for the cold winters in our little corner of the island 🏝️

Our own Sunita Narma @nofostyle has been exploring new joys in the water beyond her usual sunset happiness and will be participating in the plunge. Last year cohost Tracy too braved the waters for the inaugural plunge at Truman’s beach. Link below to encourage, support and donate for fundraising efforts for this cause.
