Description

If you’re married and your spouse is not an entrepreneur, then you’re most likely very familiar with being misunderstood (and possibly dismissed) as you embark on, yet again, another business idea.

As mompreneurs and visionaries, we can see with deep-seated passionate vision, how an idea can work - how it can actually serve people and make money. But when you sit down to explain it to your husband, you’re greeted with something like, “That’s nice, dear.” or possibly, “How much is all this gonna cost us?”

If you’re anything like me (Deanna), your husband has already supported you in more than one endeavor, and you’re feeling a little bit of fear in your heart as you show him an ad for a paid course, business retreat or workshop you’d like to attend. Why? Because it’s just one more thing to spend money on for your business before your business is actually turning a profit.

Yeah, those conversations aren’t fun to have. Trust me I know. What we can’t do, however, is allow fear of our husband’s responses and his not understanding (or believing in) our dreams stop us for going after them. We must instead figure out how to do this lovingly without dismissing their feelings, perspectives, and valid fears of the risks involved.

What we discuss - don’t miss it!

QUOTES

7:34 If you don’t communicate honestly, openly, transparently, completely with your spouse, even as things change, that’s just a recipe for problems from the get go.

16:36 I saw the vision and went along for the ride and it changed my life and changed the course of my career.

22:13 To the person who is married to the entrepreneur, understand that your entrepreneur spouse has been created to create in this way, and you cannot separate them from that without them losing little pieces of themselves.

26:04 If you want to not spend through your (bank) account, you need to allow your spouse to pay for a good coach, because a good coach will make sure you’re on the right track to creating income.

31:45 If you go purchase something (for your business) that you don’t implement. You’ve got to get really clear what your needs are so your husband can see how this is impacting your bottom line.

37:30 What do we do when our husbands don’t believe in what we are doing? We believe in ourselves (anyway).
