An American citizen, born in Spain, Elena has traveled all over the world. But, in the end, she and her husband, Ron, chose San Felipe as their home. She has coming to Mexico and the Baja for several decades. She is a staunch believer of becoming involved in the local community and reaching out to neighbors and community members. She is an active member of the local Lion's Club and a fundraising women's group known as the "Tequila Pigs." She is particularly interested in organizing and fundraising around issues such as breast cancer and local, affordable health care. Recently she was named "Embajadora" for the foreign national community and will spend the year working as the liason between the foreign national communities and the Mexican community. She also helps out with the Blues and Arts Festival. This year her big project is organizing a fundraising baseball series entitled, "Baseball by the Sea," whereby she hopes to create further alliances between foreign nationals, Mexican nationals and local businesses and organizations. Elena brings enthusiasm and great insights into what is happening with many of the health oriented fundraising groups.
