On Saturday, April 16, 1960, Irene Garza  who lived with her parents told them that she was going to confession at Sacred Heart Church in McAllen, Texas. Her body was found days later in a canal. Irene was a strikingly beautiful former beauty queen, school teacher, and devout Catholic. Pretty soon the investigation focused on someone who Irene and other Catholic's should have been able to trust with their spiritual and physical safety.
