What do TRUTH and REALITY have to do with TV?
As it turns out, even less than you’d think.
On today’s episode, I chat with Kai Hibbard, runner up on season 3 of reality game show “The Biggest Loser”. Kai was first cast into the spotlight through her participation and subsequent denunciation of the weight loss show. She speaks candidly of the abuse the contestants endured behind the scenes, and the damage it did to her health. After her experience on the show, Kai decided that she no longer wanted to be part of the problem and decided to become part of the solution. This decision led to interviews with media outlets like: Time magazine, Good Morning America, ABC and CBS NEWS, People Magazine, US Weekly magazine, Inside Edition, Access Hollywood, TMZ and several others. Her honesty was met with intense anger from viewers who accused her of being selfish and hypocritical and led to daily online threats for several years. Her experience fuelled her desire to fight society’s fat phobia and the dangers of diet culture. She has since become a licensed social worker counselling clients dealing with a variety of struggles.
Kai’s outspoken fearlessness combined with her true tales from TVland make this an episode you don’t want to miss!
