This sermon explores the meaning and significance of Advent, focusing on the dual nature of Christ's coming - his first arrival in humility and his anticipated return in glory. It emphasises the hope offered through Jesus' incarnation, life, death, and resurrection and encourages believers to live with expectant hope while awaiting Christ's second coming. The sermon weaves ancient prayers, biblical prophecy, and New Testament teachings to present a comprehensive view of Advent's relevance for contemporary Christians.

"Almighty God, give us grace that we may cast away the works of darkness and put on the armour of light, now in the time of this mortal life in which your Son Jesus Christ came among us in great humility; that on the last day, when he comes again in his glorious majesty to judge the living and the dead, we may rise to the life immortal; through him who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, now and for ever. Amen." (AAPB 1978)
