Rosalina, also known as swamp paperbark and lavender tea tree, is found on the south-east corner of the Australian mainland as well as the island of Tasmania. It is a tall, dense shrub or tree with pale white or brownish papery bark, dark green linear leaves and late spring blossoms of creamy-white. She is at home beside streams and in coastal swamps and has a reputation as being one of the hardiest of all native plants. When the leaves and green twigs are steam-distilled, we are gifted an essential oil with a gentle scent, harbouring notes of lavender and tea tree. Rosalina has been touted as one of Australia's finest gifts to the aromatic world. This episode explores Rosalina and other Australian native oils with aromatherapist Deby Atterby.
