During this time of year, many of us are thinking about gifts. Picking that perfect gift. Our budget. Wrapping. Mailing them out in a timely manner. We think about the reaction when the person opens our gift. All things gifts.
Here are two quotes that really hit home and we thought would be a perfect discussion for today. Let’s dive in.
“The greatest gift you can give your family and the world is a healthy you.”
Of course being our healthiest self is a wonderful gift to our loved ones. This makes complete sense. However, if this is true, why are so many of us struggling with our health?
Some possibilities:
Lack of knowledge
Feeling overwhelmed
Feeling hopeless
No accountability
Not understanding the connection between our
mental, emotional, and physical health
“Your happiness is the greatest gift you can give your loved ones.”
This also makes sense. It’s safe to say, we would love to give our loved ones this gift; however, do we even have it to give? What does happiness look like? How do we get it?
Before living as our healthiest self or making a difference in someone else’s life through our happiness, we have to find it for ourselves first. It starts from within us.
Questions to ask ourselves:
1. How committed am I to doing what I need to do to start on my health and happiness journey?
2. Do I know what I need to do to proceed?
3. What is holding me back?
4. Do I need some outside help, encouragement, or support?
5. How will I track my progress? What will success look like to me?
6. What is my plan if I miss my mark?
Remember:
It isn’t about the end goal. It’s about every step of the journey. It’s about not staying in the past, not living in the future, but embracing the present. Making every minute count.
So what is The Ultimate Gift? It might be something different for everyone, but chances are it must first come from within. Keep those questions and comments coming, folks!
