Biography
Roman Skaskiw was born and raised in Queens, New York.
His six years in the US Army included Ranger School, Jumpmaster School, tours of duty in Afghanistan and Iraq as an infantry officer with the 82nd Airborne division and another tour in Afghanistan with the Kunar Provincial Reconstruction Team.
His essays have appeared in the New York Times, Atlantic, Stanford Magazine, the Des Moines Register, the Daily Beast, Mises.org, Small Wars Journal, and elsewhere. His fiction has appeared in Front Porch Journal, Bound off, Nethra, Steel City Review, In the Fray Magazine, and elsewhere.
He is a graduate of the Iowa Writers' Workshop, and Stanford University's School of Engineering. He spent a decade in Ukraine.
