Description

This  episode concludes our series on "Gender Benders", where we explore how horror films explored - mostly problematically - the challenges faced  by  people with repressed sexual or gender identifications.

The second most popular "Shit That Goes Wrong At Camp" horror film, 1983's "Sleepaway Camp" is  presented by Sonia today. Highlights:

• Sonia schools the boys about how much more intense "girl" meanness was (is?) versus the meanness Joe and Rob experienced in their high school days.

• The team all acknowledge that Felissa Rose's acting chops don't get the credit they deserve

• Rob spotlights the amazing FX work of unsung makeup master Ed French

• Sonia discusses what is probably blatant homoeroticism in the film, which triggers Joe about the sadistic days of "shirts vs. skins" in gym

• And a lengthy discourse on the history of below-the-belt grooming in porn over the decades.

• And everyone winds up researching on their phones because SuperTech Josh was out having his teeth replaced.

Next week we start our series on "Horror In Space" with:

Episode 10 - Nov. 17 - Mario Bava's classic "Planet of the Vampires" (1965) - presented by Sonia Harcourt
