Today I am grateful for washing my hands. I know this sounds super strange but hear me out.

Did you know that it used to be uncommon for doctors to scrub up before surgery or even wash their hands between patients? I’m guessing that you already know that not scrubbing up caused infections to be transferred from one patient to another. It’s common sense, right? In the past doctors routinely moved from dissecting corpses to examining new mothers without first washing their hands. This could and did cause infant death by what was called ‘childbed’ fever.
